What language skills do I need in Bolivia?
Most volunteering/internship placements expect a basic to intermediate level of Spanish proficiency. Some programs are available using English only. The language requirements are written in each program description.
If you have little or no knowledge of Spanish, we recommend you book remote Spanish lessons prior to traveling to Bolivia and/or on-site Spanish language lessons in Bolivia. Please let us know your level of command of the Spanish language so that we can consider it when planning your stay.
In Bolivia, besides Spanish, indigenous languages such as Aymara and Quechua are used.
