During my stay, can I travel around in Zanzibar and Tanzania?
Zanzibar is a relatively small island, and you can explore the entire island on public transportation during the weekends, such as the beaches of the North and East coasts, the Jozani National Park, or the capital Zanzibar Town with the historic Stone Town. You can link up with other participants for these trips, and our coordinators on-site will provide you with guidance and suggestions.
You can also travel from Zanzibar to Moshi/Kilimanjaro and stay in our accommodations there at the same favorable conditions as our Moshi participants, serving as a base for a safari in the northern national parks of Zanzibar, a Kilimanjaro climb, or day trips from Moshi. Participants in World Unite! programs receive a 15% discount on safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs, and day trips from Budget Safari Tanzania.
If your absence due to traveling coincides with your volunteering/internship period, you should inquire with your volunteer/internship placement early on to see if it's acceptable. We recommend planning your travel time better after your volunteer/internship, and you can also extend your stay in your accommodation beyond the duration of your volunteer/internship placement.
